Exhibtion

Today was the opening of my first outside exhibition, it was in Southwark Park and contained work from all courses in my year at Camberwell College. The exhibition was amazing, a lot of great work. Here is my contribution:

Finally

So I have been looking for an abandoned place since I fell in love with the work of Francesca Woodman, but it's been so hard finding somewhere that firstly 1) isn't in the process of being torn down or already torn down and 2) Can get into the building without being arrested or injured.. 

So this place used to be a school I believe and even though I couldn't get in the actual building I found the empty swimming pool and some out houses with broken pipes and the roofs falling down. There was also a beautiful archway that I found and couldn't help but imagine how amazing the school would have looked when working. 

So these images are just ones taken on my phone for instragram, as I used a model for my shoot and, of course, it's on film. Which I am developing tomorrow so will hopefully have them printed and scanned by tomorrow.

 

 

New Shoot

Heres a Polaroid from my latest shoot, just trying out a few different things to build up to my final shoot for my summer project for uni. Just want something to show that I am proud of.

The Village

So The Village (2004) was finally on Sky again, I don't know why I love this movie so much, it did give me nightmares as a child but then again everything gave me nightmares at that age.
I also kind of felt like it kept with my theme of Hidden, which is currently in all my photography work. With everyone wearing hoods to hide their identity and "monsters" hiding themselves as they are not monsters but regular people who pretended to be something their not to 'protect' the ones they love.

Marwell

More images from Marwell Zoo, as I took my 35mm camera aswell as my Polariod. I got this camera from a car boot a while ago,  and haven't tried it out since. So after my zenit broke I decided to try it, and as many of the images had light leaks I got the film developed for free. It was a good day.

 

Polariod

As it was my birthday last Tuesday, I got a Polaroid camera from my grandparents and I haven't put it down since. Here are some images I took at Marwell Zoo and a sculpture park in Farnham.

Burgess Park

As I'm moving to a new house soon to start my second year at uni I want to visit all the places I love that are close to me. To start with there is Burgess Park on Old Kent Road in London. It's a lovely area with many different parts to it, pond, gardens, play area. The gardens were my favourite place, even though it is quite small, it's peaceful and beautiful. The bottom image is taken by my boyfriend.

More Ireland?

 

Here some more images I took while on Ireland, I took about 4 films in just under two films, which is showing destain for me, but means I have many images to show from the holiday. 
I love the top image, which was taken at Ross Castle, Killarney. I adore this place and have been going since I was a little toddler, it's mine and my sitter's place. I really do enjoy taking images of reflections and the seeing the final outcome. Especially with the perfectly green background, then the multi-colour boats and their reflections in the water make the image stand out.  

Air Show Continued

So I wanted to put up some more images that I took when I was at the airshow, as I only put up the ones of the red arrows, which are my favourite planes that show in the airshow, but I did take some other ones that I like. I also noticed that the three images I picked out perfectly showed the day, in terms of weather. Starting out grey and typical british weather, then cloudy and finally sunny with blue sky.
I love the first image, as the composition is great and the trick they performed is called the 'cork screw,' which was amazing to watch and I caught it at the precise moment that it showed perfectly what they were doing and shows all the planes in the final shot.
The final image also depicts the Valkrie (Hope I spelt that right.) Which has a lovely history, and I was lucky to listen to the air show radio while watching the planes outside the air port, which explains some of its history and said for the third time that it would be last time this plane was shown in the airshow as it's a very old plane.

Farnborough Air Show

So as I pretty much live round the corner, I wanted to see the air show in my hometown, as its only on every 2 years. My favourite was, and has always been, the red arrows, which were on last. It was suppose to rain all day, but luckily by midday the sun came out and the sky turned blue.

Ireland continued

This was my favourite place wen I went to Ireland, it's a castle ruins on the edge of a beach and we found out very quickly that you have to leave at a specific time as when the tide comes in, the castle becomes an island. It's very different to England's ruins as this one has two stories, that you can climb up, as there are still some stairs. Plus there was nothing around it, if we were in england there would be health and safety all over it.

As you can see below the archways leading in and out of the little building were perfect to create a frame in the image. I love the top one, which is taken of my dad, as he just seems to be perfectly lit, with his left side and his clothes blending in with the stone then the right side of him being lit by the natural available light, highlighting his profile.

Ireland

So Last month I went back to Ireland, whenever I am there it feels like my hometown, I have been going since I can remember as my nanny lives there. So here are a few images from my film camera, which did brake half way through, but managed to fix it. Need a more reliable camera..
These are the images I took with my orange filter, got it for like 50p at a car boot so had to try it out. Honestly didn't think they would come out like this, but I like it. Obvouisly because they all look like a set of images, as they are the same tone. I do prefer the images with a bit of colour, including the bottom image of the biggest mammoth in the world, also because of the red strip of light on the left.

Double Exposure

I have always loved double exposure, these are two images from a series of images I call Hidden where I experimented with different ways of hiding the model's face. As I recently finished my first year of uni I wanted to use the darkroom while I still could and just experiment with all the negatives I had gained over the course.

New Day, New Mistakes

 

I'm not really too sure what I did to these images, but I kind of like it. My best work is sadly mostly mistakes that worked out well.

Don't look

So these were my final pieces for my final project to end my first year of uni, I did like them when I did them but the more I look at them the more I don't. They are exactly what I saw in my head when I imagined my next shoot to show how I was feeling, but it keeps changing.

New Project: Trails

A new project that I have began is something i've called Trails, it was inspired by the work of Richard Long and the theory of intervention in photography. I don't have much at the moment, just the images from a walk I took, letting my dog decide the paths we took,  and every time we went down a new trail I took a image. Here a few I took, but all can be seen on my Flickr or My Website.

Through the trees

This is an image I took when I went home, I loved the way the sun hit the water drops on the trees, it was beautiful. Also was nice for see sun for pretty much the first time this year.
Can't wait to to go home tonight, see my family and all my friends from home. Everyone have a great easter.

Hair

This shoot is still in keeping with my theme of hidden, but also exploring my new idea of feeling invisible, how people try to hide from the world by ways of using their hair and hands. So of course I had to use a model with a lot of hair.

Lomokino

I finally had a go at my Lomokino that I got for christmas quite a while ago. I still need to scan in the negatives to make a film but here are some test photos I printed to check the exposure was correct.

Woman in Black

On my theme of Hidden I wanted to experiment with a veil and hair, I didn't really mean it to look this creepy, like it's out of a horror movie, but I did chose black and white film. It's the first time I've used my new medium format camera, and developed the 120 film myself.
